Terracotta Thali Set

Terracotta Thali Set

£35

Take your dining experience one notch higher with these unglazed Terracotta Thali sets. Made by hand using traditional pottery techniques, all 5 natural elements of nature or Panchtatva as they are called in Sanskrit come into play harmoniously in the creation of terracotta products. Apart from that distinct earthy flavour that terracotta lends to the food, the alkaline nature of clay is set to reduce the acidic levels in food and balance PH levels, making the food easier to digest. Furthermore, unglazed clayware comes packed with natural nutirients and essential minerals which fortify the food in the most natural way. Each Thali set comes with a 10 inch thali, 2 bowls and a cup, all created in 100% natural terracotta. Thali- 10 inch diameter, Glass- 250 ml, Bowl- 200 ml The color, size, and texture may slightly vary. Each product is handcrafted with love by our artisan friends making every piece distinctive and unique. Before first use:   Immerse the products completely in water for at least 12 hours before first use to ensure that the pores become moist and residue from the making process gets cleaned off.   Maintenance notes: - Avoid harsh soap. Terracotta is porous in nature which means you do not want any chemicals to get lodged into the pores and contaminate your food. - Instead use a dash of lime and a soft scrub to clean the surface and leave it to All it asks for is to be handled with love and care.  Behind the scenes: Pottery has been one of the oldest professions known to mankind and has been an integral part of the culinary world, especially in India. Uttam Nagar, a locality in Delhi, India has been home to around 600 potter families that have been practising this artform for many generations.  The advent of new synthetic materials in recent years has led to a decline in business and many of these families are struggling to make ends meet and has led many to abandon this craft. Project Rivaayat, a student-led initiative is working closely with the potters of Uttam Nagar to revive their livelihood, re-establishing the culture of using earthenware and enabling society to rediscover the magic of this beautiful organic art form.  We at Made with Love in India are proud to partner with Project Rivaayat in bringing this to British homes and in the process do our bit to ensure a fair return for these talented potters and keeping this organic art form alive.
